Communication is critical in co-parenting
On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Visitation on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Raising a child after a divorce can be challenging for both parents, but with clear lines of communication open, co-parenting can be less of a hassle. After a divorce; and the child custody and visitation arrangements are all finalized, it can be easy to feel like a single parent. However, it is important to remember that your child does have another parent, and that their opinions and routines matter and that the two of you are still raising the child together. Aside from being able to make decisions together, it’s also

But with almost 10 percent of the population out of a job, and modifications of child support

In addition, those who are married cover 77 percent of a child’s financial needs, while those who are no longer together pay only 42 percent of those financial needs. In addition, the study also looked at parents
Forty-percent of babies born in U.S. are born out of wedlock
On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Monday, December 27, 2010. According to recent statistics, births to unwed mothers reached an all-time high of about 40 percent. This is a trend that began years before. More than three-quarters of these women were 20 or older. According to Duke University’s Philip Morgan, a legal researcher, for a variety of reasons, it’s become more acceptable for women to have babies without a husband. With out-of-wedlock birth rates this high, many unmarried fathers falsely assume that they can avoid the court system when they were not married to the mother. However, this is predominately untrue. Just

International child abduction still a real problem: Part 2
On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Thursday, December 9, 2010. Two days ago this blog looked at the problems surrounding international child abduction by a parent, but focused on Japan. However, as was mentioned, Japan has at least expressed an interest in signing the 1980 Hague Convention, however, India is proving even more difficult to work with as the country’s concern is to keep the child in India. According to the Washington Post article that focused on child abduction, India has shown no signs of signing the convention, which would greatly impact the outcome of a child being
Father claims to have lost custody due to his religious beliefs
On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Fathers’ Rights on Friday, December 3, 2010. An Indiana man is claiming a commissioner used his religion against him when deciding who would receive custody of his children. Being a peacemaker versus a warmaker
On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. A recent article suggests that the way for dads to have positive results in their custody cases is to be seen as a peacemaker versus a warmaker in the courtroom. “A peacemaker does not cause disruptions. A peacemaker is not inflammatory. A peacemaker doesn’t engage in name calling.” This is the exact opposite of what a lot of fathers believe based on misinformation often disseminated to them. You may think that your soon-to-be ex-wife is evil and vile and think you should tell the judge in writing. However, the article
