Paternity case turns into child support for rapper Flo Rida

8192193_s.jpgAfter denying being the father of a child, rapper Flo Rida is now being ordered to start paying child support. At this point, Flo Rida, whose real name is Tramar Dillard, is being asked to hand over his financial information to the state's Department of Revenue in order to determine how much he owes in child support to the mother of the child.

Mother jailed for owing more than $300,000 in child support

8269653_s.jpgChild support is money that goes to the custodial parent by the noncustodial parent. The idea is this money goes toward the care of the children, such as food, clothing and housing. When a judge uses guidelines to set the amount that is owed by the noncustodial parent -- unless a modification is approved by the courts -- this is not something that is optional. Failng to pay child support can lead to a parent being arrested and placed in jail.

Mother accused of hiding money for larger child support payout

Her new boyfriend is also accused of playing a role in the scheme that involved deflating her finances in order to secure more than $50,000 a month in child support. Now the three -- the mother, her boyfriend and the father of the 5-year-old -- are all involved in a legal battle.

Missouri fathers: Make sure child support orders are enforced

Thumbnail image for 10609239_s (1).jpgIt used to be that mothers were favored in the courtroom when it came to who should receive child custody in a divorce. Typically, the mother would end up receiving primary custody and the father would have visitation rights that equated to every other weekend -- and in some cases -- an additional few nights during the week. The father was also normally the one paying child support to the mother.

Paternity dispute: Michael Jordon denies being teen boy's father

9993471_s (1).jpgIt is troubling to even think about, but the truth is that there are mothers in Missouri, and around the country, who will try and claim a man is the father of their child in order to receive child support. When this happens, it is important to not just give in, but to rather establish paternity -- or prove to not be the father -- through a DNA paternity test.

Father back in jail again for unpaid child support issues

jail time-handcuffs.pngUnless parents have equal parenting time and are both earning the same amount of money, one parent will usually be paying child support to the other. The one who receives child support is typically the custodial parent. The amount that is paid is dependent upon several factors, including parents' gross incomes and child support that is being paid for any other children.

Facebook photos can wind up in family law cases

Time and time again we hear of stories in the news when what a person posts on Facebook comes back to bite them from a legal standpoint. Quite often people tend to incorrectly assume that their Facebook page is their little part of the Internet. However, the truth is that information can be taken off of a person's Facebook page and used against them as evidence in court.

Judge says no procreation for father who owes child support

A father who owes $50,000 in child support and $40,000 in interest was recently ordered to no longer procreate until he can prove that he can provide financial assistance for his children. Naturally, this ruling raises several questions and concerns, such as is this fair to fathers and if this is even enforceable?

Father arrested for unpaid child support in Missouri

Parents may think that they can get away with not paying child support by moving out of Missouri to another state. However, the truth is that failing to pay child support can lead to a felony charge and warrant out for a person's arrest. This means that if the parent is found in another state, not only will he or she end up getting arrested, typically he or she will also be sent back to Missouri.

After paying child support, man learns he is not the father

When a couple has a baby and gets married, most people just assume the husband is also the father of the child. In some cases, finding out about the pregnancy is even a driving force between why two people get married. This same paternity assumption also goes on if the couple separates or divorces and can play a role in determining things like child support and child custody.
