Danny Tartabull, who played for a number of Major League Baseball teams, is listed as one of the “most wanted” for unpaid child support. At this point, authorities claim the 50-year-old is on the run after failing to pay child support for his two sons. He reportedly owes more than $200,000.
According to the county agency, in 2011 Tartabull pled no contest for failing to pay child support. After this plea, he failed to comply with his probation terms and was ordered to a 180-day jail sentence. However, he failed to appear in court and he has been on the run ever since.
In looking at what he owes, according to the county’s child support services department, Tartabull owes more than $276,000 in child support for his two sons.
Tartabull reportedly earned $33 million during his MLB career. He had played for 14 seasons on a number of different teams, including the Kansas City Royals. However, for some reason, he fell behind on his payments and is now facing serious legal repercussions if caught.
For the average Missouri father, the fact that Tartabull is facing jail time for unpaid child support should serve as a lesson on how seriously authorities take making child support payments.
A Missouri father should realize this going into the courtroom and should be properly prepared with legal representation in order to make sure all agreements are fair and could be financially handled.
If, after an agreement has been reached, a father starts running into financial hardships it is important to not take matters into one’s own hands. Rather, talk with an attorney about the possibility of a child support modification.
