Citing criminal case against mother, father wants custody

When it comes to child custody, decisions need to be based on what is in the best interest of the child. This is exactly why one father is asking for primary custody. He claims the media attention surrounding a criminal case involving his ex will end up negatively affecting his 7-year-old son.

The mother, who is a Zumba instructor, is accused of running a prostitution ring out of her studio. The 29-year-old has pleaded not guilty to 106 counts, including engaging in prostitution and promoting prostitution.

However, of concern now for the father of the child is not only whether or not his ex committed the crimes, but the effect the court case and media frenzy may have on his child.

Additionally, he has expressed concern over the fact that his ex recently married and her husband lives in Texas. The mother also supposedly has family in Mexico. Due to concern of his son being taken out of the state, he has also requested that the son's passport be impounded and that a restriction be put in place so that the son cannot leave the state without a court order.

Of course for the father, this must surely be a frustrating time as he tries to protect his son from being bombarded with news regarding a criminal case that deals with alleged crimes not appropriate for a 7-year-old to even hear about.

And while it is unknown how exactly this case will turn out, Missouri fathers who have concerns about the well-being of their children and who want child custody should speak with an attorney who has experience handling fathers' rights cases.
