Children's emotions around divorce and holidays

For some, Halloween is the start of the holiday season. And while this time of year can be stressful for anyone, for children whose parents are either going through a divorce, or were just recently divorced, this time of year can bring up a wide range of emotions and corresponding behaviors.

Parents with joint custody need to create a plan for Halloween

It's that time of year again: pumpkins are being carved and the preparations for this year's Halloween costume are almost all set to go. However, for parents who have joint child custody, now is also a good time to communicate and work out some kind of a schedule when it comes to trick-or-treating and school Halloween festivities.

College students and coping with divorce

Often parents will stay together until their children are grown and go off to college. And while these parents have good intentions, it turns out that putting off a divorce to try and spare the children can actually end up affecting the kids more in the end.

Daniel Baldwin's ex wants child custody, support and earnings

It seems that Daniel Baldwin may find himself in a courtroom battle as his wife -- who recently filed for a legal separation from the 51-year-old actor -- also requested to have full custody of the couple's two small children. This move comes just months after the actor had originally filed for a divorce and restraining order against his 41-year-old wife, claiming that she is a danger to him and the children.

Divorce settlement awards Jamie McCourt $130 million

In the past we've written about the ongoing divorce saga between Frank and Jamie McCourt. In the beginning the two were going to court over property division and who really owned the Dodgers, and most recently the two reached an agreement in temporary alimony. However, more than two years after the couple announced their separation; a divorce settlement has finally been reached.

Missouri speaker of the house filing for divorce

Even the most successful of individuals can be confronted with a family breakup. And this can include couples in a longstanding happily married relationship. It was just recently announced that the Missouri Speaker of the House, Steve Tilley, will be divorcing his wife. The two were married for 18 years and have raised two daughters. The stress of their demanding schedules was one reason given for why they are seeking a divorce. Another reason given was that the two were emotionally growing apart.

Father claims verbal agreement in unpaid child support case

Public criticism has erupted on both sides of the fence as a U.S. representative goes through a very public battle over unpaid child support. The representative claims he had a verbal agreement with his ex-wife not to pay child support, and his ex-wife claims that everything changed when she found out that he lent more than $30,000 to his own congressional campaign.

Battle over pet custody stems from divorce

With divorce there is always the possibility of a bitter battle over property division and who owns what. However, in a recent rather bizarre divorce turned family law story, it turns out that an ex-wife and her former sister-in-law are going to court over who the rightful owner of a 3-year-old dog named Lucy is.

Mother loses custody after 2-year-old wanders away from home

Due to a mother's alleged neglect, a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old are now staying with their father. And, aside from losing custody of the children to their father, it also seems that the mother will end up being charged with child abuse.
